Elijah was one of the greatest prophets that God raised up to serve Him.
On Mount Carmel he challenged the prophets of Baal to see whose God was more
powerful and God showed His sign of strength. (1 Kings 18:16-40)
et by chapter 19, Elijah was complaining about being the only one left. He replied,
"I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down
your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill
me too." (I Kings 19:10) But God told Elijah that He had 7,000 people that had been faithful.

How often do we feel we are the only ones serving God? God has blessed Crossroad Bible Institute with many
helpful hands. Nearly 5,000 individuals donated 221,843 hours of service as volunteer Instructors for the
prisoners enrolled in CBI’s Bible study and reentry education program in 2009, correcting students’ completed
studies and responding with personal letters of encouragement. Another 655 volunteers contributed a total of
28,742 hours in the ten CBI distribution centers located worldwide, including the headquarters in Grand Rapids,
Michigan. This had allowed CBI to help their 40,000 students learn more about the Bible and grow closer to God.

Immanuel Lutheran Church has a team of 4 faithful instructors that regularly correct inmate's lessons and write
letters of encouragement to these inmates. Our team consists of Sylvia Marshall, Christa Quandt, Rita Clarke,
and Larry Baumgart. Feel free to ask any of our instructors about how God is working in their lives as they serve
Him through this exciting ministry. If you would like to find out how you can join this ministry team, call Larry
Baumgart.
